Code Complaints and Violations

Description: An ordinance is a law passed by a municipal government, like the City of Gainesville. Gainesville has adopted ordinances for things like zoning, safety, and building regulations. The ordinances passed by the City of Gainesville get codified or published into a Code of Ordinances. When a person or business fails to meet any standard in the Code of Ordinances, it is called a Code Violation. This dashboard shows all code violations since October 2011.

How to use: The dashboard is interactive. Use the slider on top to filter by date range. You can also filter code complaints by Type, Year or Month by clicking on the bar graphs or line graph. To select many, use Ctrl + click on Windows or Cmd + click on Mac. Click again to unselect. Hovering over the graphs will give you more information about the data. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find a link to the raw data available on dataGNV, the City of Gainesville's Open Data Portal.
